Ayurvedic formulations are mainly administered by oral route and most of the orally administered Ayurvedic formulations belong to liquid dosage form of drug or drug combination. However, Herbal products have to fulfil legal requirements with regards to quality including stability testing. Herbal Syrup is commonly used and popular dosage form which is used to cure cough, cold and fever because it having ease of patientscompliance.Mint(Pudina), clove, fennel, Black paper, Dry ginger and Adusa which have various action and effect on reducing acute or chronic cough and cold and act as cough suppressant havingexpectorant and anti-tussive property. In this Paper, I conclude about herbal cough syrup that, herbal cough syrups is a safest herbal medicine which is use for treatment of cough and cold. The present study helped us to understand what actually cough means, what are different types of coughs, factorsresponsible for causing cough. Herbal treatments for cough were studied briefly.
