Title

THE ROLE OF HOMOEOPATHY IN CASES OF STYE

Abstract

This Thesis explores the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of styes (hordeolum) from both conventional and homeopathic perspectives. Styes are common infections of the eyelid's sebaceous glands, typically caused by Staphylococcus aureus, and manifest as painful, swollen, and red bumps. The conventional management of styes often involves the use of warm compresses, eyelid hygiene, and antibiotic therapies, which can sometimes lead to side effects and antibiotic resistance. In this study, we investigate the efficacy of homeopathic remedies in the treatment of styes, emphasizing the holistic approach of homeopathy which considers the patient's overall constitution and symptoms. Remedies such as Hepar sulphuris, Pulsatilla, and Staphysagria are evaluated for their therapeutic benefits in treating acute and recurrent styes. Our research includes a comprehensive review of clinical cases, a comparison of treatment outcomes between conventional and homeopathic methods, and an analysis of patient-reported experiences. The findings suggest that individualized homeopathic treatment not only aids in the resolution of styes but also contributes to overall eye health and reduces recurrence rates. This thesis underscores the potential of homeopathy as an effective, natural, and integrative approach to managing styes, highlighting the need for further clinical trials to establish its efficacy and mechanism of action.
