In the study of human-computer synergy, a brain–computer interface (BCI) is a successful outcome when direct communication between the brain and an external device happens, enhancing, supporting, and restoring human cognitive abilities. Our overview study thoroughly examines both recent and historical research on brain-computer interfaces, their productivity in the field of BCI, and critical discussions regarding the suggested research methodologies for further advancements. With brain computer interfaces (BCIs), users can operate devices using single-neuron activity from inside the brain or electroencephalographic (EEG) activity from the scalp.
