Title

Marketing of local products of Uttarakhand: Challenges, strategies and role of digitalisation

Abstract

This paper analyses the challenges associated with marketing the distinctive local products of Uttarakhand, proposes effective marketing strategies, and particularly explores the growing role of digitalisation in this process.Uttarakhand, known for its rich natural wealth and cultural heritage, is home to diverse local products such as agriculture, handicrafts and forest produce. However, these products face several hurdles in reaching wider markets and realising their full potential.The paper highlights key challenges such as lack of standardization, inadequate branding, weaknesses in the distribution network, and limited promotion. In response, it suggests strategies such as value addition, cooperative marketing, and direct market access.Additionally, it emphasises the transformational potential of digitisation in areas such as e-commerce platforms, social media marketing and digital skill development.The study aims to provide practical insights for local producers, policy-makers and rural development organizations to strengthen the rural economy of Uttarakhand and gain recognition for its unique products at the national and global platform.
