Benzimidazole is an aromatic heterocyclic compound composed of a fused ring system that integrates a benzene ring with an imidazole ring. Derivatives of benzimidazole, which are nitrogen-containing heterocycles, have attracted significant attention due to their broad spectrum of biological and pharmacological activities. These include antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, anti-diabetic, and other therapeutic effects. Researchers have identified that the benzimidazole scaffold offers modifiable sites, particularly at the 2nd and 5th positions, which can be functionalized to enhance biological efficacy. This study focuses on the synthesis of various phenyl-substituted benzimidazole derivatives and evaluates their antibacterial potential.
