Title

Bond strength test of Bamboo reinforced concrete using molten plastic and sand blasting

Abstract

Nowadays, every growing nation focuses on building a home for everyone using eco-friendly and sustainable materials. Low-cost housing made of bamboo is the simplest solution to this issue in a country like India with a large diaspora and a developing nation designation. The fastest-growing grass is bamboo, which also has the essential engineering qualities to make it the best natural material. Because bamboo grows quickly, we could cultivate our own, so there would be very little environmental harm from cutting it down. The availability of bamboo in the Chhattisgarh region as well as its numerous civil engineering qualities were covered in earlier research and studies. Bamboo may be a viable and affordable alternative for construction materials with careful research, analysis, and consideration of the needs. It can also reduce the strain on traditional materials and stop the depletion of natural resources used as raw materials to produce conventional materials. In order to create lightweight structures, bamboo reinforced concrete (BRC) uses bamboo culms as reinforcement. Bamboo fiber reinforced concrete (BFRC) is another product made from bamboo fiber. In order to ascertain the strength of the link between bamboo and concrete, the current project conducts a pull-out test using bamboo as reinforcement in concrete using various materials, including molten plastic with sandblasting and hot glue as adhesive. The pullout test was done after a curing period of 28 days. The pull out test was done for different bond interface lengths, i.e., for 150 mm and 300 mm, respectively. There are three types of samples used to determine the bond stress, i.e., plain bamboo strip, bamboo strip coated with molten plastic and sandblasting, and bamboo strip coated with hot glue adhesive. It was observed that bamboo treated with molten plastic and sand blasting or with hot glue adhesive performed good and gives higher value of bond strength which is greater than deformed steel bars.

Key Words
