With a focus on border trade between India and Myanmar, the study looks at India's Act East Policy and how it affects ties with ASEAN states. It highlights the need for improved infrastructure and connectivity by analyzing past and present trade agreements and exposing the region's strategic underutilization. The article makes the case that the North Eastern Region's distinct geographic and cultural makeup offers an essential link to ASEAN and highlights how important it is to match India's regional goals with its international obligations in order to maximize the potential for improving diplomatic, social, and economic ties. It comes to the conclusion that maximizing Northeast India's potential as a pivot for regional cooperation, integration, and India's larger Indo-Pacific goals requires a coordinated strategy that incorporates border trade, infrastructure development, and policy coherence.
