Title

SEISMIC RESPONSE OF PLAN IRREGULAR RC STRUCTURES WITH HYBRID STEEL BRACINGS

Abstract

High-rise building stability is mostly ensured by steel bracing systems, which withstand lateral stresses brought on by wind, seismic activity and other dynamic loads. High-rise buildings employ a variety of steel bracing systems, with an emphasis on their design considerations, performance under various loading scenarios, and effect on the overall stability of the building. The goal is to present a thorough understanding of bracing systems to resist lateral loads. In the present study, RC Frame of G+10,15 and 20 stories were considered for three different types of buildings with various types of steel braces along with a combined bracing system for the Finite Element Analysis. The performance of building with and without bracings were studied in terms of Modal analysis, Equivalent Static method and Response Spectrum analysis. Time Period, Base shear and Displacement are obtained, tabulated and conclusions are drawn. The results indicate that X-type and hybrid bracing systems significantly improve the seismic performance of RC structures by reducing time periods, displacement, and inter-storey drifts. Among the configurations studied, hybrid bracing systems combining X and V or Inverted V demonstrated optimal structural response across all building heights and irregularities. This research highlights the suitability of hybrid bracing as an effective strategy for seismic retrofitting and new constructions in high-risk zones, promoting safer and more resilient urban infrastructure.
