Abstract: Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has made a major leap forward in the field of digital content creation, but these systems still largely rely on old data to produce results. This article highlights that the next important step should be towards Innovative Artificial Intelligence (InAI) — AI that is not limited to content creation, but can also formulate its own problems, combine knowledge from different domains, and develop new, useful solutions. The discussion incorporates insights inspired by improvisation, meta-learning, multimodal reasoning, and human-AI collaboration, which are ultimately presented in the form of practical recommendations for researchers, developers, and policymakers.
