Title

Effects of two different game practices on flexibility of school girls

Abstract

The purpose of study was to find out the effects of two different game practices on health related fitness component of school girls. To achieve the purpose of the study, thirty school girls from Government higher secondary school, Sikkal, Ramnad District, Tamil Nadu were selected as subject at random. Their age group range between 12 to 14 years. The study was formulated as pre and posttest random group design, in which thirty subject were divided into three equal groups. The experimental group-1 (n=10, KK-GP) underwent Kho-Kho game practice, the experimental group-2 (n=10, TB-GP) underwent throw ball game practice and group 3 served as control group (n=10, CG) did not undergo any specific training. In this study, two game practices were adopted as independent variable, i.e., Kho-Kho game practice and throw ball game practice. The health related fitness flexibility of school girls were selected as dependent variable. As far as the health related fitness component was measured by standardized test item. The flexibility was selected as dependent variable and it tested by Sit and reach test, the performance of the girls was recorded in Centimeters. The selected two treatment group’s namely Kho-Kho game practice and throw ball game practice were performed five days in a week for the period of six weeks, as per the stipulated training program. The selected health related fitness component was collected before and after the training period. The collected pre and post data was critically analyzed with apt statistical tool of one-way analysis of co-variance, for observed the significant adjusted post-test mean difference of three groups with respect to each parameter. The scheffe’s post hoc test was used to find out pair-wise comparisons between groups with respect to each parameter. To test the hypothesis 0.05 level of significant was fixed in this study.
