Title

ROLE OF STATRTUP INDIA SCHEME IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS IN WESTERN UTTAR PRADESH

Abstract

India is home to 63 million Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with approximately 20 percent being women-owned, employing between 22 and 27 million people. In the Mastercard Index of Women Entrepreneurs (MIWE, 2021) , India has ranked 57th out of 65 countries. India could establish over 30 million women-owned businesses, potentially generating 150 to 170 million jobs. Therefore, successful women entrepreneurs act as role models, inspiring others to break societal barriers and pursue their ambitions. By addressing challenges such as access to funding, skill development and socio-cultural constraints, India can unlock the immense potential of its women entrepreneurs, fostering inclusive growth and a resilient economy. The present research study, the researcher has taken 500 women entrepreneurs from the western Uttar Pradesh. So, the sample size for the present research study is: Sample Size- 500 (100 per district). Five well self-sustained districts in industrial development have been selected for this research study. These districts are enriched with entrepreneurship attributes, education, natural resources and other necessary elements to be opted as potential startup base. These are Bulandshahr, Panchsheel Nagar (Hapur), Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur. These belong to western part of Uttar Pradesh. The women entrepreneurs under startup schemes are included in this study.
