Title

Navigating the Landscape: Challenges and Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs in India's MSME Sector

Abstract

This article critically examines the prevailing challenges and emerging opportunities for women entrepreneurs within India's Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. Despite their pivotal role in fostering economic growth, generating employment, and promoting inclusive development, women entrepreneurs in India encounter distinct barriers. These primarily include limited access to formal finance, persistent socio-cultural biases, restricted market linkages, and identifiable skill deficits. Concurrently, the operational landscape is evolving, presenting substantial opportunities driven by proactive governmental support initiatives, the transformative potential of digital technologies, shifting societal perceptions, and the emergence of niche markets. Employing a comprehensive qualitative, descriptive, and analytical approach, this paper synthesizes findings from existing academic literature, policy documents, and authoritative reports. It systematically analyses the current scenario, identifies key impediments and growth catalysts, assesses their broader socio-economic impact, and proposes actionable recommendations to cultivate a more enabling and equitable entrepreneurial ecosystem. The findings underscore the imperative for integrated policy interventions and collaborative stakeholder efforts to unlock the full potential of women-led MSMEs, thereby contributing significantly to India's sustainable and equitable development trajectory.
