Although inflammation is a normal immunological reaction to trauma, infection, or damage to tissues, persistent inflammation can cause major health problems. Traditional medicine has traditionally utilized guava, or Psidium guajava, to treat a variety of inflammatory diseases. Although the plant's leaves and fruits have been the subject of extensive investigation, the root has received very little attention, despite its historical use to treat conditions like diarrhea, fever, and toothaches. The traditional use, phytochemical components, and pharmacological properties of the plant Psidium guajava root are examined in this review, with a focus on the plant's capacity to reduce inflammation. According to research, the root extract has substances with anti-inflammatory properties such as tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids, and saponins. The traditional usage of guava root to treat inflammation is supported by good outcomes from limited experimental trials. This review emphasizes the need for additional clinical research and scientific verification of guava root's potential as a natural anti-inflammatory.
