Title

VALORIZATION OF AGRO-WASTE ASHES IN ALKALI-ACTIVATED BINDERS: A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF MATERIAL PROPERTIES AND PROCESSING METHODS

Abstract

This review presents a critical analysis of existing literature on the use of agro-waste ashes particularly rice husk ash (RHA) and palm oil fuel ash (POFA) as precursors in alkali-activated binder systems. Emphasis is placed on the influence of processing parameters such as grinding, thermal treatment, and chemical activation on the physical and chemical properties of these ashes. Comparative analyses are supported by tabulated data on particle size, surface area, specific gravity, and microstructural features. Additionally, the effect of various activators and mix design strategies on mechanical and structural behavior is discussed. The review identifies research gaps and provides direction for future investigations in sustainable geopolymer technology utilizing agro-industrial by-products.
