Urban metro projects are crucial infrastructure endeavours for improving mass transit, reducing congestion, and promoting sustainable urban growth. However, these projects are frequently plagued by significant delays, resulting in cost overruns, public inconvenience, and loss of investor confidence. This paper identifies the root causes of delays in metro projects, particularly in the Indian context, and proposes innovative solutions to address them. The research draws from case studies, including the Mumbai Metro Line 4, and integrates global best practices with emerging technologies such as BIM (Building Information Modelling), AI-driven project management, and integrated design optimization
