Title

The Influence of Artificial Intelligence in English Language Learning

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming key sectors such as transportation, healthcare, entertainment, and education. Within English Language Teaching (ELT), the integration of AI presents both promising opportunities and notable challenges. Benefits include personalized learning, adaptive curricula, and increased engagement through interactive AI tools. These technologies use natural language processing (NLP) to provide real-time feedback, immersive language practice, and automated assessments, all of which contribute to more efficient language acquisition. However, ethical concerns such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the risk of reduced human interaction also arise. Overdependence on AI may hinder the development of communicative and social skills essential to language learning. Additionally, unequal access to digital resources may exacerbate educational disparities. This paper examines the complex role of AI in ELT, highlighting both its advantages and limitations. It advocates for a balanced approach—one that leverages AI's strengths while addressing its drawbacks—to enhance the overall English language learning experience.
