Abstract: The accounting profession is experiencing a significant transformation due to the rapid advancements in automation and artificial intelligence (AI). These changes present both exciting opportunities and challenges for accounting professionals and the industry as a whole. This study explores the multifaceted impact of automation on accounting, analyzing its advantages, disadvantages, and long-term implications. We examine how emerging technologies are streamlining traditional accounting processes, creating new opportunities for value addition, and necessitating adaptations for professionals to thrive in this evolving landscape. Digital advancements like blockchain, natural language processing (NLP), robotic process automation (RPA), and sophisticated machine learning algorithms are redefining core accounting practices. Companies are increasingly adopting custom accounting portals and software solutions to automate routine tasks, enhance data analysis, and improve decision-making. This study assesses the current applications of these technological advancements, their potential future developments, and their overall impact on the future of accounting.
