Title

Study on Optimization of High-Efficiency Machining Process for High-Silicon Aluminum Alloy

Authors

Abstract

This paper addresses the severe tool wear and poor machining quality encountered during the processing of high-silicon aluminum alloy through systematic cutting experiments. Machining trials were conducted using selected milling cutters, and orthogonal experimental methods were employed to analyze the influence of milling parameters, including feed rate, spindle speed, and cutting depth, on milling force, milling temperature, and tool wear. The research results indicate that selecting diamond-coated tools and utilizing optimized machining parameters can significantly improve the machinability of high-silicon aluminum alloy. Specifically, a Φ1.25mm drill bit, under the parameters of feed rate 200 mm/min, spindle speed 4000 r/min, and cutting depth 0.5 mm, could machine 505 holes before wear occurred. An M2 tap, under the parameters of spindle speed 500 r/min and feed rate 200 mm/min, could machine up to 550 holes. The optimized machining parameters brought the processing state of the high-silicon aluminum alloy close to that of the commonly used aluminum alloy 5A06, substantially reducing tool wear, and improving machining efficiency and precision. This study provides reliable technical support and reference for the efficient machining of high-silicon aluminum alloy.
