The Turfgrass system, including about 63,000 square miles of the USA, has enormous ecological, economic, and recreational importance. As a result, they lead to enhanced greenhouse gas emissions, pesticides polluting the water systems, water scarcity, and other connected problems. This review paper also answers concerns on how to sustainably maintain turfgrasses for the best benefit with the least harm to the environment. Inputs involve minimizing issues such as nitrogen fertilizers and water, climate change mitigation through low emissions, and increasing carbon sequestration. The article includes from simple cultural practices like aeration and cultivar selection to advanced technological developments such as slow-release fertilizers and moisture sensors, and artificial intelligence like prediction algorithms. This work suggests that more work is needed for better techniques, addressing the need for existing knowledge gaps in this domain, and accommodating the current global climatic and resource situations.
