Title

IoT-Enabled Home Security: A Multi-Sensor Approach for Intrusion Detection and Environmental Monitoring

Abstract

This work introduces the design and development of a smart security system with a microcontroller-based system that incorporates various sensors and actuators for real-time monitoring, detection of intruders, and provision of safety against environmental hazards. The system combines motion sensing, distance sensing, ambient light sensing, and smoke sensing to correctly detect potential intruders in a controlled region. When an intruder or a dangerous situation is detected, the system sets off visual and auditory alarms through LEDs, a buzzer, and automated light for instant notification. A keypad interface also provides secure access control for entrance by authorized individuals and arming or disarming the system and manual operation of attached devices. The combination of these sensors with automated actuators illustrates a productive and sensitive mechanism to maximize security with reduced false alarms. Experimental findings demonstrate the efficacy of the system in intrusion detection, environmental monitoring, and timely alarm generation, recommending it for home, business, and industrial use. The suggested framework identifies the promise of sensor-based intelligent systems in contemporary security and sets the stage for future advances such as remote monitoring and IoT integration.
