This research proposal showcases the story of Draupadi as a mythic epitome of woman power, the one born from the sacrificial fire and the one who fought for her rights. Pratibha Ray’s Yajnaseni gives life to Draupadi, she has the right to opinion and justice in her novel while in Ved Vyas’s Mahabharata, she was just a woman of five husbands. Pratibha Ray retells the story of Mahabharata in her novel Yajnaseni through Draupadi’s point of view. In her novel, Draupadi is the mythical figure of action, knowledge, devotion, and power that represents the future and hope of womanhood. With the aid of feminist literary theory (Beauvoir, Showalter, Spivak) and myth criticism, this study compares Draupadi with mythological figures like Sita and Helen of Troy, highlighting her duality as preserver and destroyer. Woman like her who has faced torment, insult, mental and emotional dilemma has not yet been born on this earth. She is the true epitome of woman power.
