The Indian cement industry, a critical driver of infrastructure and economic growth, faces mounting operational and environmental challenges, including low equipment efficiency, high energy consumption, and competitive pressures. Kaizen, a philosophy of continuous, incremental improvement, offers a systematic framework to address these issues. This paper examines Kaizen’s applicability and implementation in the Indian cement sector, integrating insights from direct industry case studies, academic research, and related manufacturing contexts. Evidence indicates Kaizen’s capacity to enhance productivity, reduce costs, improve quality, and align operations with sustainability goals. Despite these benefits, adoption remains constrained by cultural resistance, limited training, and insufficient management commitment. The study concludes with recommendations for integrating Kaizen into broader operational excellence strategies, emphasizing the role of leadership, employee engagement, and institutional support.
