Darbhanga district of Bihar is called “city of ponds”. The present investigation was undertaken the study of the physico-chemical conditions of two freshwater perennial fish culture ponds- Harahi Talab and Shyama Mandir pond of Darbhanga city. Present study revealed that physico-chemical parameters were comparatively higher of Harahi Talab than Shyama Mandir pond. The water samples were analyzed for water temperature, transparency, Iron, pH, Sulphate, Phosphate, magnesium, dissolved oxygen (DO2), Alkalinity, Ammonia and Nitrate. Harahi Talab situated in front of Railway station, Darbhanga is found more polluted water due to disposal of domestic and municipal sewage. Higher value of physico-chemical parameters like alkalinity, redox potential and lower DO2 is considered to be sewage water pollution indicator for eutrophication and it also lower down the fish production.
