Title

TEACHER'S VERBAL COMMUNICATION COMPETENCE AND ITS ROLE IN ENHANCING ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING

Abstract

This research paper explores the significance of teachers’ verbal communication competence in shaping students’ English language proficiency and classroom engagement. Unlike previous studies that focus primarily on oral proficiency, this study broadens the scope to include clarity, tone, articulation, and the interactive strategies employed by teachers. Using a descriptive survey design among secondary school teachers and students, the research investigates the relationship between teachers’ communication behaviors and students’ learning outcomes. The findings reveal that positive verbal interaction, supported by effective pedagogical techniques, substantially enhances student engagement, comprehension, and self-confidence in using the English language. The study concludes with recommendations for incorporating communicative strategies into teacher training and development programs, alongside policy support for strengthening such practices.
