The behavior of any company is complex. This study aims at evaluating financial performance for SMEs. Numerous financial indicators can be tabled, but bear only a sparing relation to output performance. Several efforts were made by scientists to link input–output parameters. A Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a powerful technique to model complex relationships. It handles non-linearity with ease. This study employs a GA-based model to estimate profit using four independent parameters for SMEs. The methodology does not require strong assumptions, instead it learns adaptively from historical data. The model also provides sensitivity analysis to identify the most critical factors influencing performance.
