Title

Thickness dependent Structural,Surface morphological and Electrical properties of Cd1-xZnxS Thin films deposited by MW-CBD

Abstract

Cd1-xZnxS nanoparticles were made on cleaned glass using a microwave-assisted chemical bath deposition method. The thin films were made quickly and had a smooth, even surface. They were brownish yellow when thin and turned white-yellow when thicker. The elemental analysis showed that the films had Cd2+, Zn2+, and S2- ions, forming Cd1-xZnxS with x = 0.5. Scanning electron microscope images showed that the nanoparticles were evenly spread on the surface without any holes, cracks, or gaps, and they covered the substrate well. As the film got thicker, the particle size became smaller. X-ray diffraction showed a hexagonal structure (002) without any change in phase. The grain size increased from 95 to 112 nm, and the lattice spacing values matched standard ones. Using the two-point probe method, it was found that the electrical resistivity dropped from 1.99 x108 to 4.1x107 ohm cm as the thickness went from 91 to 172 nm
