Adipsin and C1q/TNF-related protein 12 (CTRP12), two adipokines, have been linked to inflammatory and metabolic processes as well as a number of diseases. These two adipokines have become significant regulators of inflammation, lipid homeostasis, insulin sensitivity, and glucose metabolism, all of which are essential components in different illnesses. Insulin sensitivity was enhanced by a brief increase in serum CTRP12 due to adenovirus-mediated expression. Adipose tissue is now known to be an active secretory source of complement and complement-related adipokines, which in addition to their inflammatory function, also help to regulate metabolic processes. The purpose of this review is to offer a thorough examination of the potential of adipsin and CTRP12 in a number of illnesses, including obesity, polycystic ovarian syndrome, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, and chronic kidney disease.
