Abstract
Number in English plays a crucial role in English syntax. There are various types of singular and plural number in English. There are nouns that are singular in form but used in a plural sense. There are nouns that have two meanings in the singular but one meaning in the plural. There are nouns that have two /three meanings in the plural and one meaning in the singular. There are nouns with two meanings in the singular but three meanings in the plural. There are nouns with two forms of plural with separate meanings. There are nouns with a different meaning in the plural.
