Importance of Agni Dushti in the Development of Chronic Diseases
Abstract
Agni is a foundational principle in Ayurveda, symbolizing the biological fire responsible for digestion, metabolism, and transformation within the body. It is the force that converts food into vital energy, thereby sustaining all physiological functions. Ayurveda asserts that the root cause of all diseases is Mandagni—the diminished functioning of Agni. Proper functioning of Agni ensures effective digestion (Paka), assimilation, and utilization of nutrients, which are crucial for maintaining health and vitality.
