Title

pharmacological studies of momordica charantia (bitter gourd) : A Review

Abstract

Natural remedies are helpful for treating a variety of human diseases. As well as for drug discovery processes. Natural ingredients used in medicine preparation are often safe, inexpensive, readily available, and more efficient than pure synthetic pharmaceuticals in treating a variety of ailments. Many bioactive substances found in bitter melon, such as Saponins, alkaloids, polypeptides, minerals, and vitamins, have the power to combat a number of diseases, including diabetes mellitus, stomach discomfort, tumour growth, fever, scabies, kidney stones, and cancer. Charantia, the primary constituent of BM, and a mixture of steroidal Saponins control blood sugar levels by mimicking the effects of peptides and certain alkaloids. The therapeutic benefits of Momordica Charantia help control blood cholesterol levels and reduce cardiovascular diseases including atherosclerosis. Bitter melon leaf extracts, both fresh and dried include numerous kinds of secondary metabolites having antibacterial action, including tannins, flavonoids, and alkaloids. This plant is in high demand in Turkey, where cultivation has already begun. Yet no manufacturing status has yet been recorded in the data. In Turkey, however, this plant is not widely known. More scientific research is required to determine the significance of this plant for Turkey's production of bitter melon. There have been theses, research articles, review articles, book chapters, congress presentations, and projects so far in Turkey.
