Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was a notable educator, social reformer, and political figure who significantly impacted modern education in India during the 19th century. As a social reformer, educator, and political thinker, he was convinced of the transformative power of education and collaboration to foster positive change. One of his most important achievements was founding the MAO College later became Aligarh Muslim University, an institution vital for providing modern education to Muslims in India and enhancing their social and economic conditions. On 24 May 1875, Sir Syed established the Madarsatul Uloom in Aligarh, and modelled the MAO College after the universities of Oxford and Cambridge that he had visited during a trip to London. His aim was to create a college aligned with the British educational system while still upholding Islamic values. He envisioned this College as a link between the traditional and the modern, as well as between Eastern and Western cultures. Although he recognized the necessity and urgency of integrating Western education, he also valued oriental knowledge and wished to preserve and convey the rich heritage of the past for future generations. He actively worked towards reforming social practices within the Muslim community, advocating for widow remarriage, women's Education. Sir Syed empowered Muslims to compete on an equal footing with their counterparts from other communities in various fields.
