Childhood depression is a growing global concern, with increasing diagnosis rates and significant implications for cognitive development, social relationships, academic performance, and physical health. Recent studies from 2024 and 2025 highlight alarming trends, such as neurological impairments, academic struggles, social isolation, and long-term health complications. This paper reviews current research findings, exploring factors contributing to childhood depression, including social media usage, prenatal exposure to antidepressants, trauma, and loneliness. The paper also discusses emerging interventions, such as family support, peer networks, school-based counseling, and digital health tools. Recommendations for early diagnosis and evidence-based treatment approaches are provided to help mitigate the adverse effects and promote healthy childhood development.
