Title

3D Printing in Pharmacy: Advancing Personalized Medicine from Bench to Bedside

Abstract

Three-Dimensional (3D) printing is revolutionizing medicine by allowing us to create custom, patient-specific drugs instead of standard pills. This is especially helpful for children and older adults, as it fixes common problems like splitting tablets and giving incorrect doses. The most common method, Material Extrusion (ME), uses materials like PLA and PVA to build complex drug shapes and carefully control when and how the medicine is released. However, getting this technology into hospitals and local pharmacies is hard right now because the equipment is too large and expensive. To make personalized medicine a reality, we must develop smaller, cheaper printers and continue to explore 4D Printing (4DP), which uses special materials to create "smart" drugs that can change their behavior inside the body.
