Financial data entry and record management are essential components of organizational efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in India’s fast-changing financial ecosystem. This research examines how Indian businesses record, store, and manage financial information, integrating insights from literature and a primary survey of finance professionals working across various organizational roles. Findings show that while many firms have shifted toward digital accounting systems, manual and spreadsheet-based practices remain common—especially in small and mid-sized enterprises. Challenges include inconsistent data entry practices, limited technological awareness, and poor standardization. However, respondents widely acknowledged the benefits of automation, systematic recordkeeping, and digitization. This paper highlights regulatory requirements in India, current practices, challenges, and recommendations for improving accuracy and compliance.
