Abstract This study explores the potential of fruit waste specifically lemon and pineapple peels as renewable raw materials for bio plastic synthesis. These peels are rich in natural polymers such as cellulose, starch, and pectin, which are essential for forming biodegradable films with desirable mechanical properties. The present study involved carbohydrate analysis and the production of bioplastics through acid-base hydrolysis, followed by plasticizer incorporation, and enhancement with essential oil. Characterization of the bio plastics was conducted using FTIR and XRD to confirm the presence of functional groups and crystalline structures, while physical tests including swelling, solubility, and biodegradability test which assessed their performance. The produced films demonstrated good tensile strength, semi-transparency, stability in various solvents, and rapid degradation under soil burial within weeks, indicating environmental compatibility.
