‘‘A study to assess the effectiveness of self instructional module on knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS among barbers in selected saloon at Rahuri Taluka’’

Abstract

Background of the study: HIV AIDS has rapidly established throughout the world over the past three decades and has emerged as the important public health problem. The acquired immune deficiency syndrome caused by human immunodeficiency virus has been a significant public health problem and remains the most serious infectious disease challenges. HIV continues to be a major global public health issue, having claimed more than 39 million with outmost spread rate but also results in significant losses for families and society as a whole. Objectives:  To assess the pre test knowledge score regarding HIV/AIDS among barbers in selected saloon at Rahuri Taluka  To assess the post test knowledge score regarding HIV/AIDS among barbers in selected saloon at Rahuri Taluka  To evaluate the effectiveness of self instructional module on knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS among barbers in selected saloon at Rahuri Taluka  To find out the significant association between selected demographic variables and pretest knowledge score regarding HIV/AIDS among barbers selected in Rahuri Taluka Methodology: In the present study, Quantitative research approach was taken as it is appropriate whenever the research question tests the knowledge of the people. Research design selected for present study is pre- experimental one group pretest posttest research design Result: There was a significant association between pre-test levels of knowledge score regarding HIV/AIDS among barbers with their selected demographic Variables.. Conclusion: Knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS improved by the administration of Self-instructional module. Significant association found between before and after administration of the Self-instructional module. The present study evaluates the effectiveness of Self-Instructional Module on knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS among barbers in selected salon at Rahuri Taluka
