Title

Effectiveness of Nurse Led Intervention on Academic Stress among Undergraduate Nursing Students

Abstract

ABSTRACT: College life is a transformative phase that bridges the gap between adolescence and adulthood. Colleges represent newfound freedom, responsibility, and opportunities to shape their future. Along with opportunities there is increased academic challenges on students, particularly in higher education, frequently result in high levels of stress and academic burden, which can have a negative influence on well-being. Objective: To assess the level of academic stress and evaluate the effectiveness of nurse led intervention on academic stress among undergraduate nursing students. Methodology: A quasi-experimental time series nonequivalent control group design was adopted. The study was conducted on 40 undergraduate nursing students selected by purposive sampling technique. The tool was used a questionnaire which include socio demographic profile of respondents and modified academic stress scale. Results: As per age majority of students in both groups fall within the 21–22 years age (Interventional: 45%, Non-Interventional: 55%), interventional group includes both male (25%) and female (75%) students. In non-interventional group was exclusively female (100%), interventional group includes both male (25%) and female (75%) students. In non-interventional group is exclusively female (100%). In interventional group all three pre test scores was showed that 85% to 95% had moderate academic stress and in non interventional group all three pre test also showed that 85% to 90% had moderate academic stress. After nurse led intervention, in interventional group all three post test reported moderate academic stress (90%) followed by mild academic stress was consistently low (10%) and mean scores slight downward and all three comparisons show statistically significant at p ≤ 0.01.
