Title

Strategic Consequences of Poor Personnel Selection Practices in Modern Organizations

Abstract

Abstract Personnel selection is a critical human resource management (HRM) function that directly influences organizational effectiveness and sustainability. In modern organizations, the increasing complexity of jobs, dynamic business environments, and competitive pressures demand scientifically designed and strategically aligned selection practices. However, many organizations continue to rely on antiquated, subjective, or inappropriate personnel selection procedures, leading to suboptimal hiring decisions. This study aims to examine the strategic consequences of poor personnel selection practices on organizational performance, with specific reference to employee turnover, morale, and productivity. The research adopts a conceptual and survey-based approach, using primary data collected from 80 respondents working in various organizations. Percentage analysis is employed as the primary statistical tool to analyze the data. The findings reveal that ineffective selection practices significantly contribute to higher employee turnover, reduced morale, lower productivity, and long-term strategic disadvantages for organizations. The study highlights the need for organizations to adopt structured, competency-based, and technology-driven selection systems aligned with strategic HRM principles. The paper concludes with implications for HR practitioners, limitations of the study, and directions for future research.
