Title

Comparative Pharmaceutical-analytical Study of Conventional Kulattha Yusha and its Modification into Instant Soup Powder

Abstract

The traditional preparation of Ayurvedic dietetic formulations, such as Kulattha Yusha (Horse Gram Soup), is a time-intensive process that significantly hinders patient adherence in modern clinical settings. This study presents a comparative pharmaceutical-analytical evaluation of the Conventional Kulattha Yusha (CKY) and its modified, shelf-stable Instant Soup Powder (KYP) form. The modification process involved the preparation of CKY, followed by concentration and drying into a powder, incorporating bio-processing steps (soaking and germination) to enhance nutritional bioavailability [1]. The primary objective was to compare the preparation time and the final quality parameters of the CKY with the instant soup powder (KYP), which was prepared by dissolving the powder in the same ratio of water as the original Yusha. The comparison focused on key organoleptic and physicochemical parameters, including pH, Viscosity, Total Soluble Solids (TSS), Refractive Index, and Specific Gravity. The results demonstrate that the KYP significantly reduces preparation time while maintaining comparable analytical characteristics to the CKY, thereby validating the modification as a superior, patient-compliant dosage form.
