Title

Use Of Waste Tires For Road Construction

Abstract

This project investigates using waste tire rubber in bituminous road construction to address the environmental problem of tire waste while creating more durable and resilient pavements. The study focuses on the feasibility of using crumb rubber as an additive in asphalt mixtures by examining its impact on bitumen properties and overall pavement performance, including properties like strength, flexibility, and durability. The research will assess performance through physical and mechanical tests to determine the optimal percentage of rubber to improve road quality and provide an environmentally beneficial solution. This abstract presents an overview of rubberized bitumen (also known as rubberized asphalt) and its application in modern road construction. Rubberized bitumen is an innovative, modified bituminous binder created by incorporating crumb rubber—derived from post-consumer waste or scrap tires—into conventional hot bitumen. This process creates a modified binder with significantly enhanced properties compared to traditional paving bitumen. The primary objective of using this modification is to improve the performance and longevity of flexible pavements while concurrently addressing the environmental challenge of waste tire disposal.
