The purpose of the study was to assess the practices and challenges financial resource management in selected secondary of Guji zone. In this study both quantitative and qualitative methods were used rather than adopted and the research design used convergence parallel (concurrent triangulation). The sampling techniques used in this study were Simple random sampling lottery method, simple random sampling technique (30%) and available sampling technique. The analysis was made on the basis of information obtained from 77 respondents and 28 key informants who were interviewed by researcher. The data gathering instrument were questionnaire; interview, and documents review. In addition, the researcher used descriptive statistics using frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviation by applied statistical Package for social sciences (SPSS) software package version 20.The major finding of the study revealed that there was The following summarizes key findings; in adequate training on the maintenance of school budget records of expenditure and in come as well as audit procedures is not provided to the school auditor through the district finance office, audits on school budgets by internal and external auditors are wasteful. the recommendation was the monitoring of the finance office and the district education office should be strength ended to ensure that audits on school budgets by internal and external auditors are conducted without any waste. And support should be provided with in depth understanding of budget utilization and record keeping and auditing.
