The UTS application in railways is a mobile application developed by Indian Railways that stands for Unreserved Ticketing System. It allows passengers to book unreserved train journey tickets, platform tickets, and season tickets using their smartphones People may order tickets from any location with an internet connection using a mobile phone, which significantly cuts down on waiting times and eliminates the need to carry cash. As digital tickets are paperless can be booked with mobile phone it reduces paper waste and contribute towards environment sustainability. The traditional ticket counter is still in place for those who are non tech-savvy and for students using railways concession. The railways' operating efficiency is enhanced as a result of the app's simplification of the ticketing process. It also gives useful information about how passengers behave, which can be applied to better planning services, crowd control, and infrastructure improvement. Through minimizing resource use, cutting carbon emissions, promoting eco-friendly travel habits, and decreasing paper waste, the UTS application helps to promote environmental sustainability.
