Title

A STUDY TO ASSESS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF VIDEO ASSISTED TEACHING PROGRAMME ON KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE REGARDING TRACHEOSTOMY CARE AMONG STAFF NURSES IN SELECTED HOSPITAL OF VADODARA CITY

Abstract

PROBLEM STATEMENT A Study to assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching programme on knowledge and practice regarding tracheostomy care among staff nurses in selected hospital of Vadodara city OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY: 1.To assess the pretest regarding tracheostomy care among the staff nurses. 2.To evaluate the effectiveness of video assisted teaching programme on tracheostomy care. 3.To associate the pretest knowledge and practice score with their demonstration variables. MATERIAL AND METHOD: A pre - experimental approach was used for this study. One group pre-test, post-test design was used in the study. Study was conducted on 60 samples in selected hospitals to assess the knowledge and practice regarding tracheostomy care with non-probability (convenient sampling) technique was adopted for sample selection. Data collection done by administering structure knowledge questionnaire for assess the knowledge and observational checklist for assess practice. RESULT: that among 60 samples, In pre-test 40(66.7%) were average knowledge score, 20(33.3%) were poor knowledge score, none of them good knowledge score. Where as in post-test 51(85%) were good knowledge score, 9(15%) were average knowledge score and none of them poor score. The mean difference of 8.26 and calculated 't' value(t = 26.68) was greater than tabulated 't' value(t=2.00) which was... statistically proved. In pre-test maximum score was 20 and mean score was 8.26 with mean difference between pre-test and post-test was 0.76 , post-test practice score was higher than mean pre-test practice score with mean difference of 0.76 and calculated 't' value(30.86) was greater than tabulated " value(t=2.00) which was statistically proved. It indicates that there is increased in level ok knowledge and change in practice. CONCLUSION: The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of video assisted teaching programme In pre-test out of 60, 40(66.7%) were average knowledge score, 20(33.3%) were poor knowledge score, none of them good knowledge score. Where as in post-test 51(85%) were good knowledge score, 9(15%) were average knowledge score and none of them poor. The mean difference of 8.26 and calculated 't value(t=26.68) was greater than tabulated 't' value(t=2.00) which was statistically proved. 4(6.7%) were good practice score, 56(93.3%) were average practice score and 0(0%) were poor practice score. Where as in post-test 60(100%) were good practice score, None of them average practice score and none of them poor practice score post-test practice score was higher than mean pre-test practice score with mean difference of 7.50 and calculated 't' value(t=30.86) was greater than tabulated 't' value(t=2.00) which was statistically proved. The findings of the study concluded that video assisted teaching programme was effective among staff nurse in improving knowledge and practice regarding tracheostomy care.
