Title

The Role of Teachers in Promoting Peace in Society

Abstract

Peace has always been humanity’s highest value. Peace is the concept of harmonious well being and freedom from vicious aggression. It can be described as the values including respecting features such as race, gender, religion, physical appearances and age. It appreciates diversities, unity, cooperation, tolerance and being fair. Teacher plays a vital role in imparting these values in next generation. Teacher has the greatest responsibility of building the nation. Teachers have important position in educational outcomes which have the potential to contribute directly to peace building. Teacher can influence learner’s identities and impart values of mutual respect, tolerance, and teach the skills required for communal participation. The objective of this article is to analyze the role of teachers in imparting peace education. Authors also narrate the personal qualities and skills required for teachers who impart peace education.
