Title

Perception of Survival and Resistance in Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale: A Thematic Study on Oppression

Abstract

Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale is a dystopian narrative with a complex interplay for survival and resistance against oppression; demonstrating the post-apocalyptic role through feminine storytelling; which expresses resistance that influences audiences to take withstand oppression. The study examines themes of survival and resistance in The Handmaid’s Tale; further, it establishes a relationship between the plots to express the views of feminist empowerment. The symbol of solidarity and resistance are reflected in the protagonist’s actions that demand a change, and further she finds ways to fight oppression. The perception of survival and resistance is thematically delineated by having a foundation the on the incidents of oppression.
