Abstract
From the time immemorial, herbs are used as medicine all over the world. In Ayurveda medicine, there is vivid description of herbs and their utilization in the management of various disorders. Lashuna ( Allium sativum Linn ) is a drug which is commonly used in the management of various neurological, musculoskeletal and GIT disorders. It is having the actions like – Ushna, Dipana, Pachana, Vedanasthapana, Shoolahara, Kaphavata shamana, Pittavardhaka, Nadibalya, Rasayana, hypocholestremic, antiatherogenic, antiinfective and bactericidal actions. It is commonly used in the management of Agnimandya, Aruchi, Chardi, Ajirna, Atisara, Pravahika, Grahani, Gridhrasi, Sandhigata Vata, Katigraha, Cervical spondylosis, Lumbar spondylosis, Frozen shoulder, Brachial neuralgia, Atherosclerosis, ischaemic heart disease, cerebral thrombosis, cardiac thrombosis, amenorrhoea, osteoarthritis of the knee joint and dislipidaemia. It should not be used in Raktapitta and Pittaja disorders.
The present paper highlights the clinical indications of Lashuna ( Allium sativum Linn ) in a scientific and experiential view.
