The Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), launched in 2016 by the Government of India, aims to provide clean cooking fuel to underprivileged women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) households. This research analyzes the objectives, implementation, outcomes and broader socio-economic impacts of PMUY. The study emphasizes how the scheme has contributed to health improvement, time-saving and environmental sustainability. It further discusses challenges related to affordability, refill gapsand behavioral change. Through a detailed examination of secondary data, policy reports and academic sources, this paper evaluates the strengths and limitations of PMUY. Despite its progress, the program continues to face obstacles in sustaining LPG usage across India. The research offers insights for improving policy mechanisms and enhancing clean energy access among marginalized populations. This article concludes by proposing strategies for increasing refill adoption and long-term behavioral shifts. Overall, the paper contributes to the discourse on inclusive development, energy equity and sustainable policy intervention.
