ABSTRACT Ocular drug delivery is hindered by anatomical and physiological barriers that limit drug absorption and therapeutic efficacy. Nanomicelles—nanoscale colloidal carriers formed by amphiphilic molecules—have emerged as a promising solution for enhancing solubility, stability, and bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs in ophthalmology. This review provides a comprehensive overview of nanomicellar systems, including their physicochemical properties, formulation strategies, therapeutic applications, and translational potential. We also explore current challenges and future directions, emphasizing their role in revolutionizing ocular pharmacotherapy.
