Title

Wireless Car Charging System

Abstract

This paper reports on the design and construction of a wireless car charging system with inductive power transfer to make EVs’ recharging more convenient and safe. The proposed system is capable for noncontact power transportation between a transmitter coil located inside a ground pad mounted to the ground and receiver coil positioned at the bottom of EV. High frequency AC applied to the transmitter coil creates a time-varying magnetic field, and this induces a voltage in the receiver coil via electromagnetic induction, enabling wireless field, and electrical power over a short distance. The mechanical stress on electric wire is completely eliminated, as are dangerous contact potential differences. The system consists of transmitter and receiver coil, power electronic circuit i.e., inverter rectifier and voltage regulation units and a microcontroller- based control system for monitoring and protection. It is known in experimental results that the power transfer efficiency can meet practical requirements at low to medium power level. It is a dependable alternative to traditional wired charging and serves as an enhancement that promotes the further development of wireless EV charging infrastructure.
