Liver disorders are commonly occurring in the Indian population. Alcoholic liver disease is very common in persons consuming alcohol for prolonged periods. Alcoholic Cirrhosis is known as Nutritional Cirrhosis or Laennec's Cirrhosis, there will be necrosis of the liver tissue followed by abnormal regeneration leading to multiple nodules in the liver and extensive fibrosis. There will be a reduction in liver function. Patients usually present with loss of appetite, cachexia, iron deficiency anemia, ascites, and general anasarca. Serum total protein will be low. And the albumin-globulin ratio will be reversed in these patients. Medicines like Arogyavardhini vati, Phalatrikadi Kashaya, Triphala vati, Kumari Asava, Pravala panchamrita rasa, Punarnavadi mandoora, Amalaki Rasayana choorna, Bhumyalaki swarasa and Katuki Kwatha are used in the management of Alcoholic cirrhosis patients.These drugs and formulations are having the actions like - Hepatoprotective, hepatic stimulant, Dipana, Pachana, Mrudu virechana, Malavatanulomana, Mootrala, Vayasthapana and having high protein content. The present paper highlights the Ayurveda management of Alcoholic cirrhosis patients.
